More Than Just a Treatment Center

The Kennedy Cancer Center offers extensive programs and services to support hope and healing for cancer survivors, cancer patients and their families.

Our Center For Hope and Healing offers classes and programs featuring Reiki, art discovery, meditation and visualization, yoga, and cooking. These classes are offered throughout the year and most are free of charge, others require only a nominal fee.

Tai Chi - 05/02/2016
Tai Chi is a Chinese slow motion exercise designed to promote good health and longevity by circulating internal energy or 'chi.' Benefits include promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Anyone can do it regardless of age or condition. Great by itself or complements other exercises, lowers blood pressure, improves balance and coordination, slows and improves breathing and builds strength and vitality for cancer patients during and after treatment.

HOPE - Helping Oncology Patients Exercise - 05/02/2016
Open to adult cancer patients of all ages and fitness levels. Research suggests exercise can help cancer patients reduce pain, nausea, anxiety and fatigue, improve ability to perform daily activities and enhance mood.

Mindfulness and Meditation - 05/02/2016
With meditation at its core, mindfulness is a way to create a greater sense of peace and compassion for ourselves and our circumstances. Reduce stress on the body and mind. Learn the skills to live in the present and nurture yourself.

Join other cancer patients for this low impact Latin-inspired dance-fitness program geared towards helping those who have battled and are still battling cancer.

Well-Being Yoga - Tuesday Afternoon - 05/03/2016
Yoga, which increases flexibility, range of motion and strength, may bring additional benefits both during and after cancer treatments. When tension is released, energy flows more easily in the body, allowing participants to experience a sense of well-being.
